[…]For years, Rick had been telling me how much he loved my pictures. This shot, in the days before photoshop, captured the drama of Quo with an analogue camera trick, the technical details of which I won’t bore you with. The band went mental when they first saw it. It was one of Rick’s favourites and they used it for all aspects of promotion for the tour. Every time Rick complimented my shots, I told him that one day I would catch him on film, telling the world how good he thought I was.
In Dublin, 2014, we were in the dressing room just after their last gig of the original band together (The Frantic Four). Rick started telling the room how I was ‘the best photographer in the world’ and reminiscing about our 30+ years of working together. “Right,” I said, reaching for my video camera, “we’re on.”
”You’re not videoing are you?” he said.
”I might be.”
”You take bleedin’, f*****g crap pictures. How you’re still here, I do not know.”
Rick, before he died, always promised me a testimonial for my book. That will be the one I use[…]
This limited edition print will be numbered somewhere between 1-500 per size, subject to availability. All prints produced with the very finest archival, acid free museum paper.
