[…]Studio 54 was the first club I had been to where a real selection process was going on at the door. The queues were immense and whole crowds were being sent away on the basis of some thing or another; presumably they weren’t ‘someone’ enough. However, arriving with Diana Ross and half of Kiss meant that we were ushered straight in without question. Upon entering, it was immediately obvious that Studio 54 was in fact a big deal - the place was overflowing with famous faces. Leaning against the bar, shaggy and worse-for-wear, was Keith Richards. Those were the days when I would have a drink - not a lot, but more than I drink now, which is not at all - so somehow Keith and I ended up having a few together. We chatted at length about his work, about my work and about the first night I shot The Stones in London’s Earl’s Court in May 1976. At one point, he turned to me with bleary eyes and put his hand on my shoulder. “Danny,” he slurred, looking me right in the eye, “you are one cool cat.” Needless to say, I felt pretty chuffed. Keith Richards, one of the coolest men on Earth, the legendary rock and roll pirate, thought that I was a ‘cool cat’. The feeling of pride lasted all of five minutes, until he leaned over to the barman and said, “hey man, you’re one cool cat.” That night, Keith proceeded to refer to every person he spoke to as a ‘cool cat.’[…]
This limited edition print will be numbered somewhere between 1-500 per size, subject to availability. All prints produced with the very finest archival, acid free museum paper. O
